Easter Swag

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

Amongst the Jelly Bellies, Peeps, and mini chocolate bumble bees of the Easter basket Ian’s dad sent us, we found what looked like standard hard-boiled eggs. They were shiny, appearing to be airbrushed rather than dyed, and I was about to move on in my hunt for goodies because I don’t like eggs when Ian pointed out a small portion of turned-up foil on the bottom of one of them. Showing slightly through was what was unmistakably chocolate. This was Easter Egg Revelation #1: the heavy, colorful eggs were filled with chocolate.

Exclamations of joy ensued, along the lines of “whoa!” and “awesome!”.

Easter Egg Revelation #2 came a few days later when Ian decided to give one of the eggs a go: the eggs actually were real hard-boiled eggs, for encompassing the chocolate was real egg shell, the airbrushed paint applied directly to its surface.

This called for more shouts of glee and surprise and a considerable amount of swearing.

But the winner of happy surprises was certainly our last discovery, Easter Egg Revelation #3: the chocolate inside was not of the traditional milk variety, IT WAS FILLED WITH NUTELLA! The reaction to this may very well have been mistaken by unsuspecting passersby to be one of pain or anger, due to the amount of yelling and swearing issuing from our kitchen.

Yes, this is probably the most brilliant Easter invention of all time. Thank you, Commercialization of the Legend of Zombie Jesus and Accompanying Misinterpreted Pagan Symbols!
