Critiques of Poetic License

This is a series of critiques of phrases and terms that at some point became ingrained in our vocabularies. Cliches and proverbs, lines from poems and songs, anything that somebody wrote for one reason and has been consistently used by others for possibly unrelated reasons. Oh how I love to over-analyze the seemingly unimportant!
